 EPHPHATHA

“Then, looking up to heaven, He sighed, and said to him, ‘Ephphatha,’ that is, ‘Be opened.’” — Mark 7:34 (NKJV)

From a Nigerian village was a young boy born deaf and dumb to speak. His poor parents had taken him from one hospital to another with no improvement. During a church open air crusade, a man of God prayed for the boy speaking in tongues to his ears. Nothing appeared to have happened immediately but months later, the family returned to testify. The boy had begun to hear instructions, respond to his name, and speak simple words. What years of disability had imposed began to loosen.

In our focal verse today, Jesus encountered a man who was both deaf and mute: shut off from communication, connection, and social participation. He declared a single Aramaic word: “Ephphatha”, meaning, Be opened. With that word, what had been sealed by limitation responded to divine command.

Beloved, many lives today reflect similar closures: closed doors of opportunity, blocked progress, delayed fruitfulness, delayed developments, and hardened hearts. Some wombs have been labelled barren, some careers stalled, self-esteem caged, some callings silenced by resistance. Yet the same Christ who spoke Ephphatha still exercises authority over every form of closure. What God opens, no circumstance can shut. “Ephphatha” speaks to conditions that have resisted human effort, time, and intervention. When Jesus spoke, ears opened, tongues loosened, and the man’s capacity to function was restored. Divine opening brings restoration, access, and movement

Dear friend, hear the prophetic assurance of Christ. Barren wombs shall open. Closed doors shall respond. Blocked opportunities shall be reopened. Barriers shall give way to breakthrough. More importantly, hearts that have grown stony, resistant, or indifferent shall open to the transforming power of the gospel. When hearts open, lives change. When ears open, truth enters. When doors open, destinies advance. Today, doors of blessings be opened to you.

Today’s Recite: Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.- Isaiah 35:5 (NKJV)

Today’s Morning Prayers:
Lord Jesus, You are the One who opens what no one can shut. I lift my eyes to heaven and receive Your word over my life: Ephphatha! Let every closed door of blessing open. Let every blocked opportunity be restored. Let every barrier to progress give way. I declare fruitfulness where there has been barrenness, access where there has been restriction, and life where there has been silence. O Lord, open hearts to receive the gospel and walk in truth. I receive divine opening in every area of my life this year. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
