 THE AMAZING GRACE

“Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” - Romans 3:24 (NKJV)

John Newton was a rough and godless slave-trader, who once lived a life deep in blasphemy and cruelty. One terrifying night in 1748, his vessel was battered by a violent storm off the coast of Ireland. As waves crashed over, the ship began to sink, Newton in a near-death experience, cried out to God for mercy for the first time in years. Miraculously, the storm calmed, and the ship survived. In that moment of deliverance, Newton, a wretched sinner, encountered the reality of grace: the Amazing Grace of God. He later penned the immortal words, “Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me.” This was the story behind the hymn, “Amazing Grace”.

John Newton’s story showcased the glorious truth of justification: not a slow improvement of our record, but an instant declaration of righteousness by faith in Jesus. God promises, “The iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve” (Jeremiah 50:20). Who is like our God, “that pardoneth iniquity” Because he delights in mercy and would cast all your sins into the depths of the sea” (Micah 7:18–19).

When you accept Jesus Christ as you Lord and Saviour, you are not merely forgiven, you are accepted: “He hath made us accepted in the beloved” (Ephesians 1:6). You stand “holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight” (Colossians 1:22). One day, He will “present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy” (Jude 24–25). And in heaven, the redeemed stand “without fault before the throne of God” (Revelation 14:5).

Beloved, justification is God’s gift, received by faith alone. Your past, no matter how dark, can be erased. Confess all your sins before Him and ask for His grace. Your sins will be gone, not because you earned it, but because Jesus paid it all. You are not on probation; you are declared righteous forever. Live today in the freedom of this verdict: guilt is cancelled, shame is silenced, and heaven’s doors stand open. Walk boldly as one justified, clean, accepted, faultless in Christ.

Today’s Recite: There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.Romans 8:1 (NKJV)

Today’s Morning Prayers: Oh God, I thank You for Your amazing grace offered through the blood of Jesus. I confess all my sins: great small. Forgive me, Lord. Save me by Your grace. Accept me as Your child. Present me faultless before Your throne with exceeding joy, so I can stand without condemnation, without fault - because of Christ alone. Let this truth fill my heart with peace and boldness today, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
