MAN HU

“And the house of Israel called its name Manna. And it was like white coriander seed, and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.” - Exodus 16:31

A father once prepared a special meal for his family. It was an entirely new recipe. When the food was served and the children were called to the dining table, they were puzzled. Everyone asked, “What is that?” He replied, “You have just given it a name — ‘What is that?’” In Hebrew, this expression is “Man hu.” This is the origin of the word manna

Beloved, this is the wonder of manna—God's daily bread from heaven. It is a daily work of wonder. The Israelites awoke each morning to find it covering the ground: white like coriander seed, sweet like honey wafers (Exodus 16:31). This name captures its mystery: a miraculous substance no one could explain, yet perfectly suited to nourish body and soul in the wilderness.

Manna was not mere food; it was a daily lesson in dependence. Gather only what you need for today—no hoarding, except for the Sabbath. It taught Israel to trust God's fresh supply every morning, pointing forward to a greater reality. Jesus declared Himself the fulfilment: “I am the bread of life... This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die” (John 6:48–50).

Beloved, the true Manna is Christ; sent from the Father, descending to satisfy the deepest hunger of every soul. Just as the Israelites grew hungry each day and found manna waiting, you are to cultivate a holy hunger for Christ. Without this appetite, you miss the sweetness of His presence. The world offers temporary fillers—success, pleasure, distractions—but they leave you empty. Only Jesus satisfies forever. Change your appetite from worldly things to heavenly taste.

Today, awaken your soul's hunger. Come to Him fresh each morning. Taste and see that the Lord is good. His provision is new every morning, sweet as honey, sufficient for every need. You were made to feast on the true Manna. Stay hungry for Christ, and you will never hunger for anything else again.

Today’s Recite:  “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” — John 6:35 (NKJV)

Today’s Morning Prayers:  Father, thank You for the true Manna—Jesus Christ—who came down from heaven to feed my hungry soul. Stir in me a deep, daily hunger for Him alone. Forgive me for seeking satisfaction elsewhere. Let me gather fresh grace each morning, depending wholly on Your provision. Feed me with Your words, satisfy me with Your presence, and make me taste the sweetness of knowing Your more. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
