MY CHANGE COMES

“If a man dies, shall he live again? All the days of my hard service I will wait, till my change comes.” Job 14:14 (NKJV)

A middle-aged craftsman once shared how his business collapsed after an economic downturn. Contracts disappeared, savings were exhausted, and for nearly three years he survived on menial jobs far below his skill level. Friends quietly assumed his best days were behind him. Yet every morning, before leaving the house, he would say to his wife, “This season is not permanent. Our change is coming.” In time, a former client reconnected, a new opportunity emerged, and his business was rebuilt on stronger foundations than before.

Job had lost his children, wealth, health, and social standing. Humanly speaking, nothing in his circumstances suggested improvement. Yet in the midst of pain, Job articulated a profound truth: seasons are not static. He acknowledged hardship, but he refused to believe it was final. “All the days of my hard service I will wait, till my change comes.” This is not passive resignation; it is hopeful endurance.

Biblically, “change” does not merely mean relief from discomfort. It refers to a divinely appointed transition: a shift authorised by God’s timing. Waiting, therefore, is not wasted time; it is the interval in which faith is refined, perspective is corrected, and character is strengthened. Job’s declaration teaches that endurance anchored in hope is an act of faith. He understood that God governs seasons, and no season lasts forever.

Many believers struggle not because change is delayed, but because waiting is misunderstood. When waiting is interpreted as abandonment, discouragement sets in. But when waiting becomes active and seen as preparation, strength is renewed. God often uses prolonged seasons to detach us from false securities and to deepen our trust in Him alone. What feels like stagnation is often hidden re-alignment.

Beloved, if you are in a season of uncertainty, limitation, or silent endurance, let Job’s words reframe your perspective. Your current situation does not define your final outcome. God is not indifferent to your waiting. Change is not accidental; it is appointed. The same God who permits seasons of testing also ordains seasons of lifting. Hold your ground in faith. Remain faithful in obedience. Your change will come - not late, not early, but at the appointed time.

Today’s Recite:
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. 2 Corinthians 1:20 (NKJV)

Today’s Morning Prayers:
Faithful Father, I thank You because You rule over times and seasons. Strengthen me to wait without murmuring and to trust You without fear. Where my days feel long and my strength feels small, renew my hope. Help me to remain steadfast, obedient, and expectant. I declare that this season will not outlive Your purpose for my life. I wait with confidence, knowing that my change will surely come. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
